BOLTON SD7311SW FIRWOOD FOLD 797-1/11/91 (North side) 26/04/74 Nos.11, 12 AND 14 (Formerly Listed as: FIRWOOD FOLD Nos.11-14 (Consecutive) Iron railings to Nos 13 and 14) GV II 4 houses, now 3 dwellings. Late C17 - early C18, built in 2 phases. Coursed and squared stone with slate roof. Nos 11 & 12 form a coherent pair, probably built as a pair of cottages in the C18. EXTERIOR AND PLAN: 2 storeys, each a single unit, double pile plan with outer doorways with flat wedge lintels, and inner 20 pane sash windows in chamfered surrounds. 2-light casement windows to first floor, renewed in original openings. Axial stack. No.14 incorporates the former No.13: left hand unit forms part of the same build as Nos 11 & 12, with canted bay window to ground floor, and 2-light window beneath gabled dormer with glazed apex to first floor, and doorway to the right. Straight joint to the right of this, marking extent of original building, the former No.14: 4-light mullioned window to left, and 2-light window inserted in former doorway against the gable wall. Gable wall appears to have been rebuilt, and is asymmetrical with a short slope to the rear, and stack forward of ridge line. End wall stacks to Nos 11 & 12. Cast-iron railings on low plinth wall define small yard in front of No.14. INTERIOR: not inspected. Listing NGR: SD7322311106
